5x6x9 is a noncommercial private space for contemporary art in Berlin. It emerged out of a former store, refurbished and designed as an architecture studio in Berlin at Prenzlauer Berg. In the 45m2 rectangular space and its large storefront-window contemporary art has been shown since 2007. The exhibitions and screenings known as ‚private previews’ provided an opportunity for young artists to show their work in Berlin for the first time to a wider public. From 2010 onward exhibitions of established and emerging artist will be shown regularly, inviting the artists to develop site-specific projects for the space. It is the intention of 5x6x9 to create a platform apart from mainstream art market interests and to inspire content oriented discussions about the respective artist´s position.
